It is the sequel to Sonic Riders and was followed by Sonic Free Riders. Jet the Hawk, Wave the Swallow, and Storm the Albatross enter Gigan Rocks and, Indiana Jones style, take a stone called an Ark of the Cosmos. Four shooting stars fall and after this, and as traps activate, Jet activates his Ark.

Item Boxes[edit]

  • Rings: Grants the character extra Rings. The amount can be 10, 20, 30, 50, or 100 Rings.
  • Magnetic Barrier: Grants the character a barrier that will draw in nearby Rings.
  • High Speed: Instantly boosts the character to his/her top speed.
  • Explosion: Launches a bomb ahead of you, harming any rivals far ahead.
  • GP (Gravity Points): Grants the character extra GP to use Gravity Control. The amount can be 10, 20, 30, 50, or 100 GP. Can also grant the character a full GP Gauge (Super Sonic isn't affected by getting GP, unfortunately.).
  • Attack: Causes the character to perform a special attack. Also gives the character access to special shortcuts and Bike/Wheel-type shortcuts.
  • Speed Down: Attaches a steel ball to the character's gear, causing him/her to slow down temporarily.
  • Question Mark: Provides a mystery item.

Note that 'Magnetic Barrier', 'High Speed', 'Attack', and 'Speed Down' only last temporarily.

Signs[edit]

  • Blue Rail: Accessible with grinding Boards or Skates only.
  • Yellow Feather: Accessible with Air Rides or Yachts only.
  • Red Bike: Accessible only through Attack Mode or riding a Bike or a Wheel.
  • Red Sonic: Only accessible through Gravity Control.
  • Blue Sonic: Only accessible while on foot or in Attack Mode.

Gimmicks[edit]

Sonic Free Riders Zero Gravity

  • Rails: When riding a grinding Board or Skates, your character can grind on these to access new areas.
  • Catapults: When riding an Air Ride or Yacht, your character can be launced off of one to soar through the air.
  • Obstacles: Some obstacles can be smashed while Attacking or riding Bikes/Wheels. Smashing these will usually provide a shortcut that can save a bunch of time during a race.
  • Springboard: Launches you into a new area. These and other special shortuts are only accessible while on foot or in Attack Mode.
  • Dash Panel: Gives you a sudden burst in speed.
  • Trick Ramps: Allows your character to perform a trick by pressing the jump button (see Controls). Pressing it closer to the edge of the ramp will usually result in a higher ranked trick. Tricks can be ranked as 'X', 'SS', 'S', 'AA', 'A', 'B', and 'C', with 'X' being the best and 'C' being the worst.
