Deepika Singh (born 26 July 1989) is an Indian television actress.[2] She is known for playing the role of Sandhya in the Star Plus series Diya Aur Baati Hum.[3]
Early life[edit]
11th Star Parivaar Awards 2013 was attended by many celebrities such as Riteish Deshmukh, Shilpa Shetty, Sooraj Barjatya, Monica Bedi, Raghu Ram, Nisha Rawal, Mahi Vij, Jay Bhanushali, Sudhanshu. Mumbai: 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' lead actors Deepika Singh and Anas Rashid bagged the 'Har ghar ka star' recognition at the 11th Star Parivaar Awards held at the Yash Raj Studio here. Deepika plays the character of Sandhya and Anas aka Sooraj is paired opposite her in the TV serial which recently completed its 500 episodes. Indian television’s most anticipated awards, Star Parivaar Awards, took place yesterday evening, in Mumbai. The occasion brought a lot of glitz and glamour of Indian television’s most popular channel. In this edition of Serial Aur Cinema, we also focus on other entertainment stories like sequel of 3 Idiots and also Akshay Kumar’s fight. In 2004, Star Parivaar Awards were held for the second time. Star Parivaar Awards 2004 took place on 11th July 2004 at NCPA Nariman Point. Dabur Anmol Shampoo presented the awards ceremony. There were 1.4 million votes received in just six days for the awards. Rajeev Khandelwal and Aamna Sharif performed on Suraj Howa Madham at the event.
Singh completed a Masters in Business Administration in Marketing at Punjab Technical University.[4]
Career[edit]
Singh had her television debut with the hit serial Diya Aur Baati Hum as Sandhya Kothari in 2011 on Star Plus.[5] She played the role for 5 years until the show went off air in September 2016.[6][7]
In 2018 she was seen in a webseries called The Real Soulmate. She also became a contestant on Ekta Kapoor's Box Cricket League in 2014 and 2019.[8] In 2019, Singh made a comeback to television acting, as she portrayed the double role of twin sisters Sandhya and Sakshi Patwardhan in Colors TV's supernatural show Kavach... Mahashivratri.[9]
She is reprising the role of Sandhya Rathi in StarPlus's upcoming show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Mein.
Personal life[edit]
Singh married the director of her television show Rohit Raj Goyal on 2 May 2014.[10] In January 2017, she announced her pregnancy news to the media and her fans.[11] In May 2017, she gave birth to a baby boy[12][13] and took a brief break from acting.[14]
Singh has been training in the classical Odissi dance form.[15]
